Getting Ready to Record
Year of Queens. We got a bunch of drinking songs and a bunch of new wave pop songs. That’s just what’s happened? I’m sure it makes sense somehow?
Year of Queens. Day 256. There is a hint of arrogance creeping into our shows. We’ve always prided ourselves on being nice - but I think we should welcome this arrogance inside and also give it a seat at the table.
Year of Queens. Got no future - got no past. Time moves just so fast with you.
Year of Queens. Day 258. Looking at recording next weekend. Not this weekend but next weekend. This Thursday we’ll play through all the songs and see where we are headed…
Last year Fiasco stopped by @citizenvinyl’s studio as @darkcitykings were working on their album, Love Is Punk.
DCK kinda started as a lark...a buncha friends jamming on Sunday afternoons at a local brewhouse that turned into a punk-folk outfit recorded and produced by an absolute industry legend.

Year of Queens. Day 259. It’s a little skitzo going into a recording. We have to be focused and know exactly what we’re doing and have everything nailed down - while at the same time we have to let the wild energy in as well…
Day 260. Year of Queens. I am grateful to our little gang for showing up once, twice a week to a little homestead on a dirt road in the mountains - to write songs together. I am grateful.
Year of Queens. Day 261. A final band practice with Kevin Moloney tonight. We do all we can to prepare but we can’t control recoding - like we can’t control a show or a practice or even songwriting. We make ourselves raw and present and vulnerable and arrogant. We’re fighters who are willing to fight for what we believe.
Year of Queens. Day 262. How it works is - 1) we got together with Kevin Moloney last night and played through all the songs we’re recording, tweaked the arrangements a little, 2) we set up equipment on Friday night at @citizenvinyl, 3) we get there on Saturday morning and drink Jamesons and coffee and play until our energy gives out, 4) we do the same thing on Sunday.

Day 264. Year of Queens. For some reason it feels very important to be recording right now.
